Wijndomein Sassenbroek is the producer of the range of sparkling wines 'Claire Martin', their Limburg variant of a classic champagne. In 2011, winemaker and vineyard owner Johan Bellens planted the classic French grape varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir on a chalky, north-south-facing slope in Broekom. The Claire Martin was only launched in 2016, but is already a household name among the Limburgers. Striving for the best quality and working as naturally as possible, these are the keywords of this wine estate that now has 2 hectares of vines.
What can you expect?
The owners Johan Bellens and Karen Smets will personally welcome your group and provide background information about the work in the vineyard, winemaking and the Roman history of the location. You will conclude with a tasting of their 'Claire Martin', the sparkling wine produced by this wine estate.
The group visits take place in the open air, sturdy footwear and rain gear are a must in wet weather.
