In the landscape, along the avenue to Hex Castle, you will find four tree tents where you can spend the night.
The teardrop-shaped sculptures hang from tall trees and form an alternative shelter for spending a night in Haspengouw. The work of Dré Wapenaar (NL) is always situated on the border between architecture and sculpture, between dwelling and meeting. His sculptures are primarily tent structures that are temporarily installed. They invite one to stay inside or take shelter underneath. The social interaction surrounding the work is of great importance to the artist.
copyright: kristof vrancken 2013At Dré Wapenaar's tree tents in the Tranendreef, you will also find Field Furniture “Pure Nature” by Ardie Van Bommel (NL), a seating, washing, toilet, and barbecue unit based on the paloxes or fruit crates that you so often see in the Haspengouw landscape. Inside the tent are two crescent-shaped mattresses. Most renters bring a sleeping bag and a pillow.
Location: Drive to Hex Castle (side street off Alfonsstraat), Bommershoven. Limited parking.
Camping in a tree tent is possible for two adults and two (small) children under the age of 12.
Cost: €70.00 for 1 tree tent/night. You can order breakfast for €20 per person.
Overnight stays are possible from April 1 to September 30, 2025.
