Town Hall Borgloon

The town hall of Borgloon is a beautiful example of the Meuse style and a building with a rich history. It was first mentioned in 1358, and it’s possible that the Counts of Loon stayed here when they were in town.

The current town hall was built between 1668 and 1680, as evidenced by the wrought-iron anchors bearing the date 1680. It underwent restoration and partial modification by architect P. Langerock in 1905.
This brick mansion has a tower in the southeast corner and a distinctive slate roof with charming dormers. The plinth is flint, and the cornerstones are limestone and marl. On the south side, you’ll find a pleasant courtyard with a wrought-iron gate, natural stone pillars and the remains of an old water pump. An iron gate next to the tower provides access to this idyllic piece of heritage.
The town hall can be visited with a guide, who’ll tell you more about this monument’s fascinating history and unique architecture. It’s an ideal destination for those interested in culture, history and architecture!
