Tongeren-Borgloon lies on the border between Wet Haspengouw, with its many fruit trees, and Dry Haspengouw, which you will explore on this route. Expect imposing square farmsteads and vast fields of swaying grain and sugar beet. In some places, the landscape has barely changed since the Romans first marched here in their sandals. They also introduced grapevines to the region, which now flourish on many of the sunny, limestone-rich hills around Tongeren and Borgloon.
