It’s time to raise a glass and toast to life. Like the Romans did, with a delicious glass of wine made from grapes grown here in Haspengouw! This is where our rich wine culture was born. This tradition has seen many highs and lows, with an all-time low in the 15th century. This was due to harsh winters, nasty wars and Napoleon's chauvinism. But in 1963, wine pioneer Jean Bellefroid planted a vineyard in Borgloon. Viticulture began to flourish again. Today, locally produced wines win medals and grace the menus of many (Michelin-starred) restaurants. Proof that the good life is in our genes. Cheers!
